Our pediatric dentists specialize in the gentle care and treatment of children. We make the dental office a friendly, non-threatening place to visit.
At your child’s first visit, we will review his or her medical and dental history and perform a comprehensive examination. For your peace of mind (and your child’s!) we welcome you to remain in the treatment room for the entire appointment. Families are welcome to stay with their children during any visit.
The examination will include cavity detection, periodontal (gum) exam, evaluation of the bite, screening for jaw joint problems and orthodontic evaluation.
X-rays will be taken at this time. If treatment needs are not complex, we will discuss our findings and possible solution options at this visit.
If your child experiences any anxiety or fear, we offer both Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas), conscious sedation and general anesthesia to help them have a completely relaxing dental visit.
Are parents allowed to go back with their child?
Absolutely! If you would prefer to come back with your child, you are most welcome!
Do you do white our silver fillings?
By listening to our parents, we found most to be concerned with the mercury and nickel content of silver fillings. Therefore, we use composite (tooth-colored) material that keeps your children’s teeth looking amazing without sacrificing function.
Do you have appointment times so that my child does not have to miss school?
Yes, our hours were made by request to meet the needs of those who prefer to bring their children before or after school and for those who do not mind bringing in their children during school hours. We also offer Saturday appointments, too!
I don't want my child to have alot of x-rays. How often do you do this?
We follow the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and take x-rays for means of diagnosing oral pathology and tooth decay, as well as for growth and development.
My child has special needs. Do you see these children in your office?
Yes, our pediatric dentists on staff have a vast amount of experience with children that have all levels of special needs. Our pediatric dentists will often do joint cases with our patient’s medical doctors that have recommended a hospital facility for various procedures. We are able to see many special needs children in the office as well, and may even recommend sedation if necessary.
